Sustainable Hertford Heath’s (SHH) Fayrely Big Picnic is back again at 1pm on Saturday 3rd September 2022.
The format will be similar to last year with an informal afternoon including a community picnic along with some sideshows, games and local societies/organisations stalls, in the evening there will again be an open air cinema provided in conjunction with generous support from The Goat.
One of the aims of SHH is to promote renewable energy both locally and further afield. Renewable energy has undergone a revolution over the last decade with solar and wind farms becoming a common sight and its contribution to satisfying the national electricity demand rose above fossil fuels to 40% of the total in the first 3 months of 2022.
At each of the previous Picnic’s we have provided a focus on renewable energy with one year the PA system being powered by people pedalling a bike based generator and the following year we used a solar system and battery to run the sound system.
This year we plan to raise our sights and explore the opportunities to take part in larger scale renewable energy schemes both locally and around the country. We will highlight various schemes that are designed to enable investment to be made in alternative energy schemes such as wave power, individual wind turbines, solar farms and many more.
So bring along a chair or blanket, a sandwich or two, some spare change and relax with neighbours and friends.
